Thank you for attending the 2019 MDSSA Annual Meeting - Recap of events
The 2019 MDSSA Annual Meeting was held on October 25 at the Hilton Baltimore BWI Airport Hotel. It was a lively day filled with a variety of activities. In addition to plenty of valuable networking opportunities, the day featured educational workshops led by industry leading experts, and a dedicated trade show.
Over 115 attendees passed through registration to open the day, and took advantage of the opportunity to meet with 23 industry leading exhibitors on the floor. After opening remarks by MDSSA Board Member Richard Sellers of U-Store Management Corp., Carlos Kaslow of the Self Storage Legal Network kicked off the educational sessions with a report on issues affecting the Maryland legal landscape followed by a lively Q&A. Next up was Eric Carlson of Life Storage who discussed the pros and cons of using third party management. Chris Nebenzahl of Yardi Matrix then gave a self storage market data report for the state of Maryland.
The lunch hour began with exhibitor introductions, followed by a bylaws vote. Attendees visited with exhibitors, networking, and learning about new technologies, products, and services available in the industry. The first of the afternoon educational sessions, led by Thomas Brook of PTI Security Services and Todd McClure of Automated Security, concerned the use of available technology to improve the tenant experience, a crucial topic in today’s increasingly tech reliant society. The meeting wrapped up following a series of roundtable discussions with industry vendors.
From the exhibit floor to the educational sessions and roundtable discussions, the MDSSA Annual Meeting provided fantastic opportunities for owners, operators and managers to get together, network, learn, and discuss events surrounding the self storage industry across the state of Maryland.
