NOMINATIONS FOR THE MDSSA BOARD OF DIRECTION NOW BEING ACCEPTED

The MDSSA is accepting nominations for three (3) board seats for a three-year board term Jan. 1, 2027- Dec. 31, 2029.   Please fill out the information below if you would like to nominate a fellow MDSSA member or yourself for one of these positions. In order to be placed on the ballot the candidate must be a MDSSA member in good standing.  

Only members can nominate candidates.  Members are permitted to nominate themselves.

Our mission is to promote the concept of self storage and the businesses of our members, while monitoring legislation and acting as the industry’s voice.

    Maryland Legislature Approves Non-Monetary Default Remedy

    Maryland Governor West Moore signed MD-SSA and SSA-backed HB 618 and SB 438 into law on April 28, and it takes effect on July 1, 2026. The bill provides a process to address an occupant’s failure to comply with core provisions of the rental agreement outside of the payment obligation.
     
    The Maryland Self Storage Lien Law Annotated will be updated and available on the SSA’s website in advance of the effective date.

    Storage Operators Join Lawsuit Challenging Illegal Maryland Tax

    Earlier this month, the Self Storage Association coordinated with a coalition of more than fifty businesses to challenge an illegal tax passed by the Prince George’s County, Maryland, council. Dubbed the so-called “Quality of Life Improvement Fund,” the council in Maryland’s second largest county imposed a $5,000 annual tax on only four types of businesses: liquor stores, tobacco shops, firearms dealers, and self storage facilities.
